How to Take Care of Your Candle (And Make It Last)

You spent time choosing the right scent, the right design. Here's how to make sure it burns perfectly — every single time.

01

The First Burn Is Everything

The first time you light your candle, let it burn until the entire surface is melted. This usually takes 2 to 3 hours depending on the diameter of the vessel.

Soy wax has memory. If you extinguish it too early, the wax will only melt in a small circle around the wick — and it will keep doing that forever. This is called tunneling, and it wastes a significant portion of your candle.

Rule: never cut your first burn short.

02

Trim the Wick Before Every Burn

Before relighting, trim the wick to about 5mm. You can use scissors, a wick trimmer, or your fingers once the wax is cold.

A long wick creates a large, unstable flame that produces soot, burns too fast, and blackens the vessel. A trimmed wick gives you a clean, controlled burn and a much longer candle life.

03

Never Burn for More Than 4 Hours

Four hours is the maximum. Beyond that, the wick starts to move, the wax overheats, and the scent throw actually decreases.

Burn in sessions. Let the wax cool completely between burns.

04

Keep It Away From Drafts

Air movement — from open windows, fans, or air conditioning — causes uneven burning and excessive flickering. It also accelerates scent loss.

Find a stable spot where the flame can burn straight and steady.

05

Never Leave It Unattended

Always extinguish your candle before leaving a room or going to sleep. Keep it away from flammable materials, children, and pets.

Use a snuffer or gently blow it out — avoid pressing the wick into the wax.

06

When the Wick Reaches the Bottom

Stop burning when there is about 1cm of wax remaining. Burning all the way down can overheat the container.

Our vessels are designed to be reused. Once the candle is finished, remove remaining wax with warm water and keep the object. It was designed to last beyond the candle itself.

The object outlasts the candle. That's the point.

Take care
of it.
